When the marble begins to roll it will convert potential energy into kinetic energy. Kinetic energy is energy due to motion.

When creating a roller coaster, thinking about how much energy is created to make sure the marble can make it up the twists and turns.

Other things to consider is velocity, the speed of the marble; how fast something is going in one direction and friction, which can create resistance in the opposing direction to slow down the speed.
